The reinvigorated debate over gun control in the aftermath of Orlando is a dangerous process. The danger is not however in the fact that the government is considering limiting access to weapons. The danger is that the failure of action on the part of the American government to protect Americans from Islamic extremism is being masked. Maybe a gun control debate is necessary and maybe a discussion should take place, but right now, at this moment, the real issue is that, those charged with developing a strategy to defeat ISIS and to intervene in Islamic radicalization and to stop the slaughter of innocent Americans in their own home, have no idea what they are doing and desperately want the American people to think about something other than their failures. Gun control/fighting gun control is a perfect scapegoat issue for them. From a political standpoint it is an effective strategy. Our leaders in DC beginning with our president and continuing down through the ranks of Congress, republicans and democrats, have absolutely no idea how to stop this and now that the American people are finally waking up to the fact that our inept, ‘emperors have no clothes’ they are panicking. Shifting the attention of the American electorate from their failure, to ‘gun control’ is just a smart political move by a bunch of cowardly, ineffective individuals who desperately want us to forget how they’ve failed, so they can hold on to power a little longer. The best way to do that right now is to launch into a fight over something that makes absolutely no difference in the overall scheme of things. Obama and Clinton are masters at misdirection because they have so much from which, attention needs to be misdirected. Republican congressmen see the advantage of diverting attention away from the fact that they have been unable to control an egomaniac like Obama, and are eager to jump into the fray. Makes no difference who wins. It only matters that we forget how they’ve failed us all. Republicans are jumping on the bandwagon now because, above all they too need to avoid scrutiny. Folks, we are under siege and the enemy is gleefully watching this inane response to their assault. Rest assured, ISIS and AL Qaeda will take every advantage of this sheer lunacy and more people will be killed before we all recognize that we have been duped by our own leaders.
