PLEASE HELP ME FIGHT OPIATE ADDICTION & JOIN the “SAVE ME” Campaign
Please read about the significance of the song “The Sound of Silence” (by Disturbed) & help me END the INSIDIOUS DANGER of OPIATE Addiction.
JOIN ME in the “SAVE ME” Campaign and FIGHT the destructive nature of OPIATE ADDICTION and TURN LIVES AROUND !!
The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel was written by Paul Simon over several months & recorded in NYC on a Wed. at 3am in March of ‘64. The orig. album released in Oct. of that year, but the song only gained fame when the single was released in Sept. of ’65 hitting No. 1 the week of January 1, 1966. In 2015, the heavy metal band DISTURBED re-made an amazing version of the song in 2015, hitting No.1 that same December, w/ Paul Simon endorsing it.
The song’s meaning still remains unclear w/ many rumors circulating over the years, & even it’s writer Paul Simon can’t remember. I think Garfunkel’s meaning summed it up best for me “the inability of people to communicate w/ each other… emotionally, so what you see around you are people unable to love each other.” Who really knows, but whatever the case, the song has significant meaning for a very special person in my life who (by the grace of God) was spared from the death, due to severe addiction to opiates and heroin. It is the only voice that he could use to carbineer himself into a life-line; an empty quiet room inside his head; a calm mental state in a horrific storm of pain & depression, caused by detox; just so he could talk to God, and make it through. That’s what The Sound of Silence means to me (and to him).
Heroin and opiate addiction is more than just an insidious destroyer of our children and loved ones, it’s a sinister and stealthy disease that will tear families apart from the inside out like a Terminator Unit, “without remorse, or pity or fear, and it absolutely will not stop…until you are dead.” And now for the SECOND TIME this year, I have another close personal friend going through the same terrible experience, and I’m fucking sick of it. Virginia Beach has a higher death rate due to overdose than any other city in the Hampton Roads area and the heroin addiction rate is climbing. This is a national epidemic, and it’s tied to prescription drug abuse, as much as availability of the heroin.
I’m done fucking around and waiting for another person in my life to be affected…another wonderful family torn apart. Look for the signs: where they hide it in plain sight; Crumpled up pieces of paper or foil (looks like discarded trash) and can be easily hidden in waste baskets or even on the floor of your kid’s room. Look for clear capsules, with no stamp or writing, which will likely be empty and have a white residue inside the capsule. This is how they package it these days so it’s easier to sell at a consistent price (so the buyer knows they are getting what they paid for by weight).
I am starting a campaign in the coming weeks TO HELP THE PEOPLE, THAT NEED THE HELP…GET IT. We are calling it the – “SAVE ME” Campaign – and I will continue to post information about this issue. And if we all band together to stop it, by sharing the knowledge we have learned; the signs; the deceptions; the lies and the tricks-of-the-trade; we can make an impact together, before our families are torn to shreds (if they haven’t been spared already). More to follow and enjoy one of the best renditions of this amazing song ever recorded. INVICTA.
“IF I CAN BE AN EXAMPLE OF GETTING SOBER,
THAN I CAN BE AN EXAMPLE OF STARTIN OVER.”
